No matter how much work you put into your outdoor area surrounding your house, you can only enjoy it at night if you have proper lighting. Outdoor lighting also offers increased safety while walking outside, one more reason to consider upgrading your lights outdoors.

Show off the exterior of your home and set the mood with outdoor lighting techniques. Curb appeal will grow exponetially if your home is framed correctly with beautiful lighting solutions.

Light Up Your Path

Adding lighting to illuminate the walkway to your home is an easy first project, only requiring a set of outdoor lights and a little effort to install. Most people are choosing LED lighting options these days, being cheaper and longer lasting.

Tree Branch Lighting

One of the best ways to save money is to take advantage of what you already have. You can hang any outdoor lighting fixture you prefer from a tree branch to give a beautiful accent without need to purchase and install a pole.

Mason Jars Lights

This is probably as inexpensive and easy to do as DIY projects get. Take mason jars and add lighting, preferably LEDs, and place the jars wherever you like. For a hanging mason jar light you will need a lamp cord, mason jar, and marker. Trace the light bulb socket on the lid of the mason jar. Cut out the socket hole from the mason jar lid. Assemble the lamp cord with the socket in the new cut hole in the mason jar lid and screw in the light bulb. Screw the lid on the mason jar and pug lap cord into a power outlet. Simple.

Change All Outdoor Lighting to LEDs

While this idea may not be as exciting or new as the others, it is the most practical. LEDs will save you money and hassle by using less energy and lasting forever. There are LED options for every occasion now, so you can install the lights you want in all your outdoor fixtures and take advantage of modern technology.

Add Flair with String LED Lights

String LEDs are awesome because they offer the same cool effect as standard string lights, but they do not put off the heat that would normally damage your plants. That means you can hang them throughout your greenery, along your pergola, etc. Stapling them is the easiest installation method, just remember to use the wire attachment.
