Fiber Cement Siding Installation and Repair in Greater Washington

Fiber cement siding is an excellent cladding solution for homeowners that prefer the look and warm feel of wood, but don’t want the maintenance required for the preservation and upkeep of wood. Fiber cement siding is extremely durable, and it may last 50 years or more. We like to use James Hardie for fiber cement siding.
Fiber cement siding style & design
  • Fiber cement is a composition of sand, cement and cellulose which is pressurized with steam to maximize strength and minimize expansion and contraction.
  • Like wood siding, fiber cement siding may be painted any color, offering homeowners a multitude of style and design possibilities.
  • While fiber cement siding is most often designed to replicate the look of wood siding, it may also be designed with a smooth finish, and with the look of stucco or masonry.
Why choose fiber cement siding?
  • Resistant to water and termite
  • Non-combustible
  • Does not rot, decay or swell
  • Does not require frequent painting
  • Available with “baked-on” finish and color-matching
  • Safe for the environment
  • Very low maintenance

Installing fiber cement siding

Fiber cement siding is typically less expensive to install than natural wood siding, but more expensive than vinyl siding. It is heavier than wood and vinyl sidings, which makes installation slightly more demanding. Joints require proper sealing to prevent caulking wear and cracking, which invites fungus and mold growth. Fiber cement siding maintenance includes regular debris removal and spray cleaning, as with any other siding, and re-painting approximately every 15-20 years.
