2019 Out of Darkness Walk

Exterior Medics sponsored and joined the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Out of the Darkness Walk in Washington, D.C., on November 2, 2019, serving as a Silver Lifesaver sponsor. The team supported AFSP’s mission to fund research, education, advocacy, and survivor resources. 

Staff members walked or volunteered at the medical booth as the route started at the Lincoln Memorial and looped the Tidal Basin—an emotional day marked by shared stories and color-coded beads representing how suicide had touched participants’ lives. 

The event brought together 2,252 participants on 237 teams and raised over $342,000, advancing AFSP’s goal to reduce the annual suicide rate by 20% by 2025.
