The Aikman Project
Location:
D.C. Area
Project Types:
Structural Foundation Repair & Exterior Renovation
Details:
- Began as a copper gutter repair project to address water damage to wood trim
- Home is a 200-year-old farmhouse with historical significance and architectural review oversight
- Inspection revealed major structural issues: parts of the home had no foundation and were sitting directly on soil
- Potential risk of structural failure prompted immediate action
- Exterior Medics worked with the local Architectural Review Board to secure approvals for siding, windows, and exterior upgrades
- Brought in structural engineer Tim Robinson to design a safe, code-compliant foundation plan
- Lifted the house to pour a concrete foundation, resulting in some necessary repair work to the siding, drywall, and floors
- Replaced mismatched siding with cohesive wood siding approved by the board
- Installed a new copper gutter system, storm door, and repainted the deck boards
- Constant communication from the Exterior Medics team, especially Production Director Arash Hassanzadeh, made the Aikmans feel informed and supported
- The project became one of Exterior Medics' most complex residential renovations to date
- The Aikmans now have a structurally sound, beautiful home that honors its historical charm
