Exterior Medics’ On-Site Project Manager, Oscar Rodriguez, may have construction in his blood, but his ability to smoothly handle the many moving parts of a major renovation project makes us think he may have some juggling DNA as well. A 24-building condo community in Ashton, Virginia, Stuart Mill was sorely in need of Exterior Medics’ range and expertise for work that includes siding, gutters, exterior trim, some brickwork, doors, and exterior paint. Add in a few unexpected developments, and Oscar has had his hands full since the work started in June this year. These curveballs didn’t phase him at all, and the project is right on track for a timely finish. We have Oscar to thank for his hard work, creativity, and attention to detail.

Off to a Good Start

“From the minute I met Oscar, I knew he would be a superb fit at Exterior Medics. He displayed a tenacity for integrity upfront and transparently. His life experience spoke for itself.”

- Mark Watson, Co-Owner at Exterior Medics

Oscar is a local who started in construction while growing up by helping his father during the summers in a concrete business. His father has been in construction for 35 years, and Oscar looks to be on that trajectory. He did take time to go to Old Dominion University to pursue a business degree, but upon graduating, the call of construction drew him back to familiar territory. After working for some other companies, Oscar made the move to Exterior Medics. “I knew it had a reputation for being one of the best remodeling/restoration companies in the area,” he says, “and I have a passion for building homes and restoring homes, so it has been a great fit for me.”

Handing Over The Reins

For Stuart Mill, Oscar’s day gets started on the drive there, checking in with his crews to make sure they get launched for the day. Once he’s there, he carefully balances running crews, managing the schedule, overseeing installation, and communicating with the property manager, the HOA, and individual residents. “What I like about construction is that every day brings something a little new, a little different.” Oscar enjoys using his creativity to solve questions, issues, and problems as they arise to make sure that they don’t interrupt the work. For instance, the framing has revealed to be an issue for some of the buildings, and it only became apparent when the crews removed the siding. Oscar has coordinated the framing repairs and return to the original scope. He’s truly passionate about learning and strategizing solutions on site.

“Oscar’s work speaks for itself, plain and simple. The project he’s managing is running smoothly. The team he has in place is acting with confidence and tact. From a production standpoint, he’s everything and more. On top of that, he’s a kind, hard-working gentleman that I’m pleased to have in our family.”

- Joe LeVecchi, Co-Owner at Exterior Medics

Culture-Fit is Important

Oscar has enjoyed becoming a part of the Exterior Medics team. Like many of our people, he sees the company culture almost like family, and he appreciates the active involvement of the owners. COVID has made in-person meetings a little tough, but he is finding that he gets all the support he needs from virtual meetings.

We would love to congratulate Oscar on his wedding, but he and his fiancé have found the date to be a moving target because of the pandemic. In the meantime, they are enjoying being first-time homeowners, playing with their German Shepherd puppy, and watching sports. Oscar is a huge fan of all the Washington teams, but he also closely follows international soccer, particularly the English Premier League. We are so happy to have Oscar on our team, and we certainly appreciate how smoothly he has made his project run.
