In his time with Exterior Medics, he has earned a reputation for calling it like it is. His customers love his occasionally blunt honesty. We’ve built our reputation on high-quality work and superior customer service. Ben’s success with customers and at the company comes from delivering on both.

From Meat Manager to Sales Specialist

Exterior Medics hires for personality and provides the training and expertise to ensure the right people join and succeed on the team. This means we sometimes get folks making a significant career pivot, and Ben is one of them. He grew up in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and started his work life as a butcher and eventually a meat department manager at a grocery store. While he may have learned a thing or two about customer service and dedication to excellence, not much of his early career prepared him for residential and multi-family exterior renovations. But love brought Ben to Northern Virginia, and when he was thinking about a change, his mother-in-law suggested he talk to Mark Watson, Co-Owner of Exterior Medics. Their meeting resulted in a hire, and Ben officially joined the company as a sales consultant.

His Care Shines

For the past six years, Ben has been an incredible member of the team. He is the first major point of contact for projects from small-end repairs to major remodels. Ben works with new and returning clients, going to the site to conduct an inspection to determine the issue and develop a solution to whatever the client wants or needs to get done. He puts together detailed proposals that include a range of options of what the fix or change could look like, with transparent pricing for labor and materials.

Ben thinks that sales should not be about creating high pressure or urgency. Instead, he tries to relate to people on their level, and his caring shines through. From his perspective, his customers are often going through a challenging situation like needing to replace a roof, and he wants them to have the best solution. His caring continues throughout the project. He often checks in to make sure things are progressing well, and he always makes sure the completed work satisfies the customer. This approach has earned him loyal customers who contact him directly when they need something else.

It's All About Family 

Ben treats his customers like family, and family is everything to him. Asked what he likes best about Exterior Medics, and he praises the family-type environment. His own family includes his lovely wife and two young kids, who are his main focus in his free time. While golf is a pastime, cooking is a passion, and he can’t wait for the weather to cool off so he can make some of his signature soups. Fall is a favorite season because he’s a football fan. In fact, he listens of 106.7 The Fan because, even though the Washington Football Team isn’t his favorite (ask him and he’ll tell you which team has his loyalty), he can’t get enough of the topic.
